HillklynPalm – Our Story

Hillklyn Palm is a Christian-based treatment center located in Hudson, New York. It sits
on a hill in a community that reflects the beauty of nature. Although Hillklyn Palm is close to
many cities, it exists in an exclusive country environment where joy and peace are bountiful.
From the birds chirping in the morning to the clear sight of stars in the night, Hillklyn Palm is the
ideal place for rest, rejuvenation, and restoration of one’s relationship with God.

Founder, Amanda Van Slutyman, L.M.T, utilizes an individualistic and wholistic approach
targeting the mind, body and spirit as she treats clients with mental and physical illnesses. For
the mind, prayer and meditating on the Word of God is strongly recommended as well as
mindfulness in nature to free the mind from earthly problems and burdens. For the body, great
emphasis is placed on the Eight Laws of Health which consist of: Nutrition, Exercise, Water,
Sunlight, Temperance, Air, Rest, and Trust. While there is a healthy balance of all laws, rest is
the vehicle used to promote optimal functioning. Following a Colon cleanse, Amanda teaches
her clients how to adapt to the diet the God has designed for us. Typically, two nutritious meals
are provided. The first meal includes fruits and nuts to fuel the body with antioxidants and other
essential nutrients. And the second meal includes raw vegetables with homemade sauces
catered to entice the palate. In some cases cooked foods are included; However, each menu is
carefully tailored to meet the needs of clients considering their presenting illnesses, behaviors,
and allergies. As the mind and body intersects, specific treatments are incorporated to promote
healing such as Saunas, Hydrotherapy, and Massage. Prior to the execution of each treatment,
brief presentations occur to educate clients about the justification and Biblical principles that
support its implementation. Along with treating the mind and the body, Amanda pays close attention to the spiritual health of each individual. Besides designated personal time, Amanda enjoys morning and evening worship. Depending on the clients preferences, Sabbaths are often spent at church. Attending church services provides opportunities for fellowship with other believers in Christ. Experiences with God are often deepened by walks and planned activities in nature. As the sunrises in the morning and as the sun sets every evening, praise is continuously given to God for His wonder and mighty hands in the progress of every client.

A couple years ago, Hillklyn Palm was birthed in a vision to Amanda. In the vision, God
revealed His strategic plans for this organization. Step by step, His plan was followed which is
evident by the intentionality of each facet. Along with Amanda’s strong sense of purpose and
determination, God provided the right tools and helpers at the right time to build the foundation
of Hillklyn Palm. While answering God’s call, the origin of the name, Hillklyn Palm holds
significant meaning to Amanda’s personal life. In memory of her beloved parents, Hillklyn was
chosen to combine the name of her mother, Hilaria, and the name of her father, Franklyn. The
addition of Palm also holds a special meaning due to her father’s job which involved canning
Palm hearts. Most importantly, Palms have a Biblical connotation that makes its inclusion even
more remarkable. Psalm 92:12 states, “The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall
grow like a cedar in Lebanon.” This origination has an emotional, mental, psychological, and
spiritual effect on Amanda’s heart, mind and soul. As she ministers to others, she is blessed in
return. Proverbs 11:25 states, “..and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.” Amanda’s
life journey and story of how Hillklyn Palm came to fruition is evidence that God can restore and
redirect one’s life in a manner in which they will find favor and fulfillment in the work that God
has bestowed upon them.
